What We Do

Causing A Stir offers a wide mix of programming, events and initiatives that empower and uplift marginalized members of the hospitality industry. And we are happy to collaborate with like-minded organizations on custom projects. Contact us for more information.

We cultivate a supportive community for disadvantaged and underrepresented bar professionals by connecting them with training and career advancement opportunities and skills.

CAS not only equips new and emerging talent with bar skills and BASSET & TIPS certifications, we cultivate a healthy hospitality culture and ethos for professional excellence that sets a firm foundation for a thriving career in this industry.

community & corporate Partnerships

Causing A Stir partners with communities and organizations to create synergy in the mission of making the hospitality industry more inclusive.

Our jeffersonian style dinner series makes space for members and partners to expand their network through conversations around culture, bar program development, food and beverage history, staff training, brand education, steps of service and best practices.

Utilizing fresh ingredients is becoming an industry standard but many underserved communities, like Chicago’s South & West Sides, don’t have access to them.

We host fresh ingredient workshops and curate demonstrations to provide our members with knowledge and skills to open their minds & palates to the diverse world of fruits and vegetables.

Education is at the core of our mission. We provide continuing education scholarships that assist members with opportunities in career advancement. Through educational programming  and events such as Chicago Style, Bar Smarts, BarMethods, Tales of The Cocktail, Bar Convent, Portland Cocktail Week and many more.

Competition Preparation

We support bar professionals with competition preparation including, but not limited to, marketing/press kits, checklist templates, research & development sessions, necessary tools and technique review to ensure competition readiness.
